Turné Dagbok april/maj 2024 - del 3

Back to Hatch in Sheff again, a great little space near Bramall Lane.  The faces walking the opposite way to me have frowns the size of something big as Sheff Utd got smacked 4-1 earlier, but in Hatch, it is all smiles. This place is small, but fun-packed and tonight begins with local promoters and ace electro-punok-pop act Duck, who warm up the very full space.

As I explain to the audience what I am trying to do, which is create conversations between PA, broken baking tray and us all, I get the feeling that there are more appreciative people here in terms of widened musical horizons. Feedback is started and created and warped and bent and dies to a slow, quiet, noisy death and Duck's Chris knows what I want from the PA almost telepathically. Lots of nice comments after.

I've not seen Sarah Statham for probably 6 years or so, so I am happy to be on the same bill as Fig by Four, which is normally her solo, but tonight with full band, including several ex Esper Scouts. The songs are strong, catchy as owt and really well constructed and mixed and very much appreciated by the now packed performance space. Dead good.

A few weeks' rest now before the Loaf of Beard debut performance in Leeds. Cannot wait for that.

Turné Dagbok april/maj 2024 - del 2

Here we are again, back in Nottingham at the fine space that is JT Soar, former potato store and now busy rehearsal space, recording studio and live space.

My visit is as klôhôvve, my new ambient glitch act and the very fine person that is Jez Creek has created again, a year's worth of shows. Some great effort.

First act up tonight are Whitby's Ammonites - a three piece of Chrises (I think) who match their visuals with great accuracy with a ever-shifting exploration of space and time and in this case, natural elements, with some surprise explosions to disrupt the mix. Great set and nice folk to talk to. Look out for thw Wavelength events they put on in Whitby.

My debut as Klôvhôvve is fun - using only an iPad mini and an 8 quid app called iDensity, an app that creates granular synthesis, I work through several samples and crush them and to finish with as a piss-take, it's "silent night", which loses its sentimentality pretty quickly as the app and my fingers put it to the sword.

Chief promoter Jez has had to stand in as Modulator ESP as the main act's harp player has sadly tweaked something in her back and can't play. Jez and his video work are well-known and his audio journey compliments the video and vice versa.

Until the next time, thanks to all at Church of Sound - cheers all!

Turné Dagbok april/maj 2024 - del 1

Last night, my latest tour began in the fine space called Metal in Southend (well Chalkwell if we're being totally accurate).  As Legion of Swine, I will be bringing the, ahem, metal to Metal. But first, before and between and after the bands we have DJ Diacritical Mark, playing all sorts of odd scratchy noises, reverbed to infinity and back and other electronic brain-scrambling audio. Nice. Promoter Emma's act Sunfish Starfish begin the band part with a table full of gadgets, wires, samplers and everything and proceed to bend and scrape all possible electronic sounds and textures over the next 30 mins. A nice way into the evening. Following up is The Abominable Mr Tinkler who crams in a million ideas per tune, covering jungle, drum'n'bass, noise, electronica and ambient and is effectively djed like a bastard and ends on samples. Dead good and I imagine decent to dance to late on in the evening in a club. Not a normal club though. After these acts, I rethink what I am planning to do. I use DJ Diacritical Mark as a lead in with some noise and feedback and then I face the Baking Tray of Doom (tm) and mangle, tease, bend, use a mic and urge feedback between PA and tray. It's loud in places and REALLY loud in other places. After I have tortured bodies and ears for 17 minutes or so, I fade out the various tones and depart. One punter explains how he felt, which I enjoy listening to, as he touches on a few things I'd intended. Several other punters have legged it.

Thanks to Emma and all at Metal for a noisy start and for images and video captured of Legion of Swine.

Lost Farming Incident mixes found!

Well, would you believe it!

Dave Procter, former gobshite for Farming Incident, was searching for some music when he came across an old folder with some mixes of songs that would have appeared on the third LP, which never happened.....

Anyroad, the 3 songs have been mastered by him and are now available for free or summat - see the link above
